VIIF 2008

Hey Readers of Starbun
Instead of a comic, I will post an illustration I did that will never get used for the Vancouver International Improv Festival. Starts tomorrow (Oct 7) and runs until October 11 at the Roundhouse Performance Centre.
Groups from all over Canada and the US are in town and it will be a great and hilarious and imaginazing time.
Groups like Crumbs, Scratch (they're the ones in the drawing),Instant Theatre, Dad's Garage, Project Project, 4 Track and many others!
AND I'm the musical accompaniment on the piano for a whole bunch of it!

Fan Art?

Sorry to be taking my time with the next comic.
I will tide you all over with this instead.
Some friends of mine were working in Angouleme, France and they came across this painted on a wall.
Pretty neat, hey? Kinda weird even
No malicious quips or crass sarcasm from me, I'm afraid.
Only that Ector has a mouth and is the opposite of a girl, Rétard.

Fan Art!

Hey my lovelies.
Fan Art time!
I am gone next week and won’t be able to post a new comic, so hopefully this will quench the thirst
Yeesh. I apologize already.
This is like an anti-substitute for a Starbun comic.
Some sort of attempt at their own sequential strip?
I don’t remember having any anorexic zombie-snowmen in Starbun…oh wait? Or is that Ector? No. No it is not.
So what exactly is the story here? New Starbun comics are made magically?
Well thanks. Thanks for undermining all the hard work me and the crew at the factory do each week. It is a shame your idea of a “magic” episode of Starbun is a…um…a stoned wheat thin? Not sure. I’ll ah put it in the suggestion box then, shall I?
Am I being a bit harsh? Yeah…sorry. Something positive…something positive. Oh!
I like that it is on one of those Fisher-Price magnet slates. You use the bar underneath to swipe the drawing area clean. I think you could have put that attribute to use earlier on…before you took the photo of it maybe?
Something to keep in mind for the next submission!
I want you to keep ‘em coming!!

Why No Starbuns?

Hey readers...all 5 of you.
I am late again with Starbun, so I thought I'd distract you with an excuse.
Justin Nichols and I have been developing another pitch for an animated TV series. We had a deadline and that is what has been delaying Starbun comics a bit.
This image here is a drawing I drew. It was the the starting point for the pitch and flourished from there. Justin has drawn it up to be much prettier. Maybe you will see it on a robot-box one day.
Hope to post a new Starbun soon.
