Hey hey!
It's that time again...Fan Art!
I must say, it is so encouraging to receive this stuff.
Keeps me motivated to maintain new cartoons for my audience.
Otherwise people send stuff like this.
"I can make a Starbun too...because I love him...Why do you hide his beauty, Mr. Hall...look what I made...I put mascara on him...and lip liner...and put cardboard behind him..."
Almost like some kind of twisted death threat.
I also appreciate peoples' choice of mediums...experimenting a bit. Things I would never consider.
I guess this person here decided to delve into the "Accessories" list in their windows Start menu...dusted off the ol' Microsoft Paint...what's this one? Version 3.0?....maybe 4?...hard to tell.
I am a little confused on how to discern this piece. Is it a joke? As in you are mocking Starbun?
The "pffft!" as if scoffing at itself? Like...maybe it is wretched on purpose? Seems a little mean.
And this person felt they had to label Starbun. Unsure of the clarity of the subject? That lack of confidence really highlights the lack of skill. Nice touch!
Well, I hope made your day by posting this. It made mine! Always nice to be reminded that my readers care about Starbun as much as I!

Vancouver Improv Festival

Kind of late in the game, but a plug none the less.
Be sure to check out the rest of the shows at the Vancouver International Improv Festival. June 5-9 at the Waterfront Theatre on Granville Island.
Emmett Hall (creator of Starbun) is the resident piano man for the entire fest providing on-the-spot soundtracks for the performances.
Also drew the festival logo of Taz VanRassel driving a robot (shown above) that you can purchase on a tshirt. Do that.

Dear Starbun Readers,
The regularly scheduled Starbun has been pre-empted by Emmett's uncontrollable excitement for the new Spider-Man feature film. He ended up drawing this instead.

ONE YEARS OLD

Well whaddayaknow! Starbun is exactly 1 year old today. Meaning that I posted the first cartoon on April 15/2006. Just above you can see the thumbnails for that very cartoon taken from my little black Starbun notebook. Click on the April 2006 archive and compare...heck and hell...read them all over again!
Thanks to all 5-10 of you that keep reading this on a regular basis. Sorry for the inconsistency of posting. AND sorry this is still a dumb blog. Just haven't found the time and the know-how to make something officially stellar. It'll come. I spent the twengoddamty dollars for the domain name...I'd best do something!
Just thought it would be a pleasant self-indulgence to make aware of this momentous anniversary.
And just below, for a lark, is the very first incarnation of Starbun himself! It came about while doodling on instant messenger with a buddy of mine(Nanoneen in the links section). We were exchanging dolty cutesy cartoons...I happened to make this puffy cat-thing. From there I transformed him into...a bun. with a star.
Starbun is not a cat.
Alright folks...just around the corner is # 75!
